Rock Creek Laser and Esthetics Institute is now offering state-accredited esthetics and laser training programs in professional hair removal and skin care. Located on-site, at the Rock Creek Laser and Medical Spa facilities, these programs cover a wide range of esthetic services in a unique, intimate, mentoring environment.

Our programs feature a combination of theoretical classroom instruction and hands-on practical training. Since class size is limited to six, students enjoy one-on-one attention and frequent extended learning opportunities such as field trips, workshops and special demonstrations.

Rock Creek is the only school in the area to offer training in all of the major areas of hair removal and medical esthetics under one roof. Students can choose a course of study in laser hair removal, electrology, esthetics, advanced esthetics or any combination. We offer rolling enrollment with flexible programs tailored to suit your schedule.

Our Philosophy

Unlike larger schools that train dozens of students at a time, Rock Creek Laser and Esthetics Institute follows a unique apprenticeship model. A maximum of six students at a time work closely with mentor and spa owner, Lynda Young, gaining medical esthetics training in every aspect of the medical spa business.

“I keep the class sizes tiny, because that way we can cover more ground,” says Lynda. “These days it’s not enough to just learn how to operate a couple of pieces of equipment. Our industry has become very competitive and sophisticated. To succeed, you really need to be up-to-date on many different technologies, techniques and philosophies.”

Because of our unique mentoring approach, students exit the school prepared not only with solid practical skills, but also with a rich understanding of the many aspects of top-notch client care.

Laser Hair Removal Training

Rock Creek Laser and Esthetics Institute offers a state-certified 40-hour class in safe, permanent laser hair removal. Students completing the class receive a certificate qualifying them to seek employment in the medical spa industry.

Laser equipment usage and safety
Skin and hair growth cycles
The circulatory and endocrine systems
Pre-treatment and post-treatment care
Sanitation, sterilization, hygiene and basic bacteriology
Intensive hands-on practice in laser treatment techniques
Marketing and small business management

Client management and professional ethics. We also offer the opportunity to learn about additional laser applications such as facial resurfacing, vein treatment and tattoo through field trips to other medical esthetic facilities.

40 hour certification

Electrology Training

Become a certified electrologist! Rock Creek Laser and Esthetics Institute offers two levels of state-certified electrology training: A 120-hour certification program and a 600-hour licensing program. Both courses cover similar topics, with the licensing program offering greater depth of knowledge and significantly more hands-on practical training. We provide needle electrolysis hair removal training and certification in the blend method (the most common method). We also touch lightly on the galvanic and thermolysis methods of electrolysis hair removal. Students learn on the Gentronics Epilator electrolysis machine. It has a multi-needle attachment which is a method that can clear larger areas faster. Read more on electrolysis methods.

Students completing the short course are qualified to seek employment in the medical spa industry. Students completing the full course are qualified to take the state electrology licensing exam in most states that require 600 hours of training.

Esthetics

This course offers cosmetic school graduates marketable, theoretical, and practical skills in esthetics and prepares the graduate to successfully pass the State Licensing Examination. We provide a working spa environment to enable you to enter the esthetics profession with hands-on experience.
